SRD on "basic wheel on turbo trainer - advice needed"

We were given a very basic turbo trainer by a colleague who picked it up during lockdown. MiniSRD (now taller than me) figured out how to set it up. But the cable that should adjust resistance doesn't seem to work. suspect it's just a loose connection or break. Looks like a standard gear cable, but the plastic casing doesn't seem to open - no accessible screws.

Any suggestions or ideas? MiniSRD would be just as happy with rollers, so it's not a big deal, but seems like it ought to be fixable?

I discovered (to my cost) that '24 x 1.25' and '24 x 1 1/4' are not the same rim diameter, not even close.

Are both tyres marked 27 x 1 1/4 and 32-630?

And the rim 27 x 1 1/4

If so and new one doesn’t fit sounds like manufacturing fault

Presume you put tyres next to each other?

Some tyre don’t like ‘hookless’ rims

I recently bought a "27 x 1 1/4" rim and a "27 x 1 1/4" tyre.

Unfortunately the tyre appears to be too big for the rim.

I find tyre/rim/wheel sizes to be a confusing minefield. Can anyone confirm the easiest way for me to check whether my rim or my tyre (or both), is the wrong size?

Am I right that the (inner) diameter of the tyre should be 630 mm?

I've managed to put the old tyre on the new rim, so I'm fairly sure that the new tyre is the culprit, but I'd like to be absolutely sure before returning it to the seller.

So we can definitely sort out ad-hoc flyer bundles but ideally avoid anywhere already on the map as all but the East region have now been taken on and are 'out for delivery' so to speak. I'm in at Laid Back for a tyre change and service tomorrow morning so will leave with Joe; but let me know if a pick-up at CodeBase is useful to you either today before 14:45 or tomorrow between 11:15 and 15:00, otherwise I could leave some bundles for you at Laid Back?

We have bundles of 50 x A5 flyers, A4 laminated posters for strategic outdoor placement, and A3 posters for key community centres and bike shops. Let me know how many of each you'd like to take and I'll sort it!

With Pedal on Parliament coming up very soon, it would be really useful to know who they are so that we can invite them to join us at PoP ;-)

- West (12)
- North West (11)
- South West (8)

I've done 18 with another 11 on my list.

Outlying places a commuter / neighbour would ideally make a single stop in:

- Ratho Library
- Musselburgh (Ace Bike Co)
- Newtongrange (Mutts Cycles)
- Lasswade (Trek at Dobbies)
- South Queensferry (Substance and Library - contacted someone about this)

This is excessively structured, but unfortunately I don't really have another mode. Hurray.
