I think the day worked out pretty well for both of us - I certainly wouldn't have got myself and the Scaffolding Bike (© gembo) into the sun-drenched Cairngorms at 09h00 without a prod from you.</p> <p>Also very interesting to hear someone who, I think, regards cycling a bit like I used to regard running - a theatre for competition and a search for your inner speed limits. </p> <p>You came equipped with two <em>bidons</em>, I came with binoculars, <a href="http://www.fromages-aop-auvergne.com/AOP-salers">cheese</a> sandwiches and a <a href="https://www.brewdog.com/item/16/BrewDog/Punk-IPA.html">can of beer </a>to cool in a burn at lunchtime, and I think we both got what we wanted from the day.</p> <p>(I'm very intrigued by the vexed question of the six spare minutes. My wheelbuilding tutor did say to me 'You do build <em>fast</em> wheels I must say....'. Just a thought. A good chat was had.</p> <p>A grand day out over some tough climbs and a new PB for me.</p> <p>Suffered my first ever bout of cramp trying to get my leg over (keep it clean) at the top of the Lecht. Managed to keep going but was in agony by the top of Cairngorm.</p> <p>I fortunately managed to finish, stow my bike and get on the bus just before the heavens opened.
