For me, it was an interesting experiment to see how deep rim wheels would behave in very windy condition. Not least because I think everyone will be in survival mode rather than 'set a good time' mode. I am also supposed to be doing TOTB but I am inclined to bin it. I'm doing it for fun &amp; while I might go out on my own in those conditions, riding in a group is a different matter. It is pretty exposed on the top of the hills so I would expect the wind would be even worse up there. One compromise that you might consider is to run the deep-section back and the normal front - I do this quite often. It is the front wheel that you really notice getting caught in the wind. But in your position I would go back to your non-deep section wheels. </p> <p>However I am quite a bit lighter than you and female (therefore less upper body strength) and not the most confident bike handler. So you might be OK. I've invested in a bit of bike 'bling' and got a set of 50mm deep rim wheels and haven't tested them in anything too windy. With forecasted gusts of 35-40mph, has anyone had experience riding these types of wheels in windy conditions? Should I stick the Zondas back on, or risk it?
