Anyone interested in reviving Hilly Tuesday .... only on Wednesday?

(this is where we collect at the foot of Arthur's Seat and do an optional number of loops, broadly together and meeting at the top and bottom)

I spoke to the park rangers about this - they told me it'd be closed from the beginning of November despite it saying October on the site. That's very annoying it's still not closed - it's also open most Sundays which is really infuriating as I tend to look forward to going up there with the trailer and would like not to have to annoy the impatient cars by being extra-specially slow...

At 5pm it was still open despite what the Historic Scotland site says. Still there were no moving cars on the "closed" bit.

I was out around Arthurs Seat this morning for 4 rapid laps. They had to be rapid because I was running late and also because it was bloody cold.

The gate is still locked so apart from bunnies and joggers it was pretty quiet.

I set off at 7:45 and it was pretty much light which was ace. Wind chill took it to about -2 I think as the wind was off the sea. Certainly felt nippy.

No ice apart from one small section where there is run off from the hillside but that was just a thin coating over running water so crunched through it no problem.

Thoroughly delightful although I felt a touch slow.

Best time was 10:40 I think.

I went up the hill on the hybrid this afternoon (with spiky tyres), in the sunshine. Very busy in Holyrood Park today. On approaching the foot of the steep bit, I saw runners and cyclists with race numbers pinned to their lyvra, and realised there was an atletics event going on: a triathlon by the looks of it. So I was climbing the steep bit, and trying (unsuccessfully) to keep up with folk on light road bikes.

Rather a strong headwind at the top. managed a couple of laps and then back home, bypassing the large gathering of dog fanciers holding some other event in the park.

I did four laps of Arthur's seat earlier today, to take advantage of the fine weather and get a bit of climbing practice in. Coincidentally began up the steep bit to Dunsapie the same time that a big running event started off (travelling the other way). Was quite fun to see the same faces several times as I looped around.

Definitely up for Tuesday, assuming the gales have died down by then. Tomorrow looks a bit too blowy...

@ruggtomcat - I set my feet like a foolio when Roibeard was adjusting the boom, so I wasn't getting enough knee extension, but in terms of torso+arm things it is a pleasant change. Especially from the drop bar bike, but the issue there is that the frame's too small.

I went for a lap bender of Arthurs seat last night to get my legs back used to my CX. Was a nice trip. Impressed with the drivers who came up behind me on the hill up - all polite and waiting patiently.

Although on a side note I'd downloaded Strava - decided to set a good PB for the hill climb. Killed myself and got a great time (or so I thought). Went to check it when I got home and found out I don't know how to use it and had failed to switch the thing on....

A mere 7 months after it was first suggested, Roibeard and I had a wee spin up Arthur's Seat on his Pino, with me stoking.

I was rubbish uphill. I claim as my excuses: a prolonged session of pretending to be a motorboat engine earlier in the day; novel posture of the Pino's recumbent front end; still being unused to climbing hills on a geared bike.

That said, on the flats we smoked the roadie group there like no-one's business on the Holyrood-Margaret's and then again on the Dunsapie-Pollock flat. They clocked us coming and speeded up on the latter.

This is clad in jeans and a shirt, so....yes. That recumbent aero effect is a bit good.
