They were before the flyover and it was pitch dark, not to mention they also took up most of the pavement leaving little chance of not ending up in the road even if you did avoid them.</p> <p>He was very lucky not to have been hit by a car after being flung in to the road. The cyclist was coming down the shared-use pavement on GSR when they hit some fence panels that had been dumped overnight. Several vehicles had stopped, he was being cared for and he appeared to be conscious. An ambulance passed me a few minutes later. Wishing him a speedy recovery.</p> <p>I didn't witness the incident, so I'm not going to speculate on the cause, but it's not the bit of Gogar Station Road where I would have expected anything to happen. </p>
