Well, I considered saying 'greasing' but it wouldn't be strictly true. If that made you snigger wait for the 'shaving and lube' thread :)

Yah i just plastered this across a few different networks.
Thanks.

And yeah id be up for the class more if i didn't have to pay for lights (got'em) degreaser (got it) or fenders (got'em too!). I fact anyone know what it is they are gonna say? Is there anything other than regularly cleaning/lubing your drivetrain?

Oh and ten miles of dry roads later, my cassette is black again :-/

Not to mention the unemployed/self-employed/students - who now have an option of the expensive-if-you're-on-a- budget bike Co-op classes or nothing. Why not run the same classes sans freebies?

"Sorry, I should have been more clear: the classes are only available to people whose employers have signed up to take part in our A better way to work project."

I which case you probably shouldn't have 'publicly advertised' here.

I had assumed that the large grant you got from the Scottish Government would have meant that such classes would be free - to encourage more employers/cyclists.

One of the things I'm finding odd about the Pashley is that I don't need to bother doing things to it.

It's a bit like when CDs came along and I didn't have to worry about stylus weight, anti skate, turntable strobe, rumble filters and so on.

With the colder weather slowly encroaching upon us, don't forget that your bike needs a bit of extra TLC to keep it running slickly and smoothly through the winter.

Basic winter maintenence classes are starting on Mondays, from 6-8pm at the Bike Station to teach you the skills you need to keep your bike in tip-top condition. The class fee is £10, and this includes a can of de-greaser and either a set or mudguards or lights.

If you are interested in attending a class then please contact Esther Halcrow at esther@thebikestation.org.uk or 0131 6628970 for more details and to register for a class.

Walk-ins are not accepted - you must pre-register with Esther if you wish to attend a class.

Hello,

For anybody who works in or near the Gyle Centre, or for anyone who just happens to be visiting - we at A better way to work are holding a free event on Friday 9th April in the carpark of the Gyle Shopping Centre, outside Starbucks, between 10am and 4pm.

Come along and let our Dr Bike service your bike for free, and get some journey planning advice and cycle maps. If that isn't enough to tempt you - we also have free home-made cake for everyone that joins us!

Hope to see you there!
