<title>cb on "Borders rail plan knocked off track"</title>

&#60;p&#62;But I thought that the bit of detail around a proposal for how to route things at Falahill was quite interesting.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Basically the road and dismantled railway cross each other at a very slight angle.  The proposal is to 'split' the road and rejoin it via a couple of 90-degree turns (using a couple of roundabouts) and a bridge. (see the pic in the article).&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Presumably regular commuters will be up in arms as it will make their commute a bit slower.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;E.g.&#60;br /&#62;
&#34;Local Councillor Sandy Aitchison, of the Borders Party, who regularly travels the route, said: “I am completely against this proposal. This whole idea flies in the face of transport policy. It will slow down traffic and also make the what is already a problem road even more dangerous.”&#34;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;But the article also says that the A7 will get a couple of extra overtaking lanes.  So that would make a commute &#60;em&#62;faster&#60;/em&#62;.
