Good news on the repair, I might try that myself though I now have a Knog Blinder from Biketrax - good light but will the fitting keep it on the bike over Edinburgh potholes?

@fergus: it worked, with a T6 torx indeed. Thank you again!

Thanks @fergus (sorry I only see your reply now). I'll order this and give it a try. I received now the spare piece and there was no explanation or extra screw with it.

I've got the same light and have had a fiddle. The round bit is the head of a screw which holds the bracket in place. You'll need a T6 torx bit to remove it - can get them individually but I've got one of these from Aliexpress and it's great for all sorts of jobs.

@gembo: I don't know, I guess I'll receive the part in a few days and I'll let you know! Maybe I was a bit impatient and it will all be revealed when I get it.

@morningsider I would for sure slice my finger . Just went to check the small metal disc on my Cateye. Thought.,, Maybe try to work the clip into a less compressed position. Broke the clip.THere is a tiny hex in the centre of my disc but even my most minute Hex Key didn’t fit. @Gowgowuk did the spare part come with a tiny tool, like the size of the tools Policeman MacCruiskeen uses to build his increasingly tiny instruments in The Third Policeman by Flann O’Brien.??

Looks like the sort of thing you could potentially ping out with a short, but sharp, knife blade. The risk being that it is quite easy to slice your fingers while doing so.

@gowgowuk Indeed a great mystery.

New lights before the clocks go back always worth it

Thank you Gembo,

I wonder why they are selling the spare part if it's so difficult to remove? I can still remove the light (with difficulty), using my keys as a lever, but obviously not ideal!

I broke a cateye light like that by turning bike upside down to fix p word without removing light one dark evening commute. Good light. Still usie it as a torch. My guess on. The circular metallic disc ? Magnet? Pointless metal bit? It looks hard to remove.

My light didnt snap at the fixing, it just compressed such that it would poing out the second I hit a bump.

Imagine if we lived in a world where no one nicked our lights. We could leave them on the bikes and the fixtures would not wear out. Or we could pay forward all the money we spend on lights and just get dynamos. My Lezyne floodlight wont recharge anymore, battery dead. You could fry an egg on it. Was never great but half price. In better light news my wee brake light from aldi I- 11.99 with free front light is attracting much positive comment and some - do you know your light only comes on intermittently? [light sensor and movement sensor all for 11.99 and free front light]

Hello all,

I broke the my Cateye AMPP400 bracket spacer (the bit attached to the light). I could see that you can buy a replacement spare and promptly ordered one. However, I realise that I have no idea how to remove/replace that bit. Is the "round bit" highlighted on the photo some sort of cap that you need to remove to have access to a screw? I tried to no avail....
Thanks!
