Some have been quite staggering and I've nearly toppled over a couple of times. The next day you can see they've been resurfaced/patched up, but only hurriedly. I guess they don't have time to fix them properly what with the all the buses. Also, the street lights seem to be quite ineffective making spotting holes rather difficult.</p> <p>I do love the surface on Charlotte Sq. though, on the south side. It's nice and smooth and feels like velvet. Seems to have been patched and patached and patched over the last few months. Still rougher than a (insert suitable proverbial rough thing here) though.</p> <p>Culminates in an unavoidable slowly sinking trench all the way across the road at the pedestrian lights at Ryries which has been patched a couple of times.</p> <p>The council are on to a loser with the latter though as they have no option to shut half of the road at the moment I reckon... (maybe that's a tram works hole though?) </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=85#post-217 Tue, 24 Nov 2009 23:40:40 +0000 Matchstickwarrior 217@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>Just lately, it seemd CEC has decided to patch up some of the slightlier busier roads in the capital.<br /> Some work has been done on the eastbound bus lane on Corstorphine Rd, which was lovely and smooth until they put back the coloured surfacing - why are the old lanes so smooth and the new ones so bumpy?</p> <p>And on Calder Road there seems to have been some extensive "patching" work, but has anyone noticed that in a few areas the "repairs" seem in some way to have maintained the presence of the holes they were supposed to cover?</p> <p>Need I mention the lack of a reinstatement of the cycle lane on the soon-to-be-opened (maybe) section of Princes St?</p> <p>Anyone else noticed some dodgy repairs where the council thinks no one will notice? </p>
