@3FL - maybe just the batteries in the A2B brand, they have proved a little temperamental but are now on offer to City of Edinburgh Council Employees operating out of Waverley Court in the same way as hiring a pool car. Which is good so long as you dismount on exiting the basement (to avoid reversing the bike down the ramp to open the gate as the battery does not like being reversed and stick to the 25kmph)

@gembo Luckily I had no problem with the battery cutting out. Earlier in the day I'd been doing above 25kph for a good few miles before I hit my first sustained incline and the pedal assist kicked in as soon as I dropped into the assist zone again :-)

I did find the limit of the assist this year though - going up a long 25% incline on a mountain road (just gravel and rock, no tarmac), I got to the point where I was barely able to keep the bike moving forward without extreme effort. (I will admit that things were possibly not helped much by rider weight and bike weight being pulled back downhill by the force of gravity!!)

@daveC, cynic

@3Fl - from bitter experieince pushng them e-bikes above the 25Kmph causes the battery to cut out. You can switch them off and back on again to reboot the battery. Was up at eBke shop picking up new battery today (though sadly it was shut - not open til 10 but lights left on).

Lots of lovely little pathside bars / snack bars / picnic tables (with regularly emptied bins) / water supplies to refill drinking bottles etc in Slovenia.

This year I decided to visit more of the bars on one of the days I hired a bike, and had to make a high-speed dash back after realising I was still far from home and the bike was due back in under 20 mins..... Honestly your honour, I simply lost track of time watching the cycling world go by, and chatting to a newly-wed young Czech couple after seeing his jersey with 'Just' on the back and hers with 'Married'

(It may have been an e-MTB, but there was zero pedal-assist involved getting back as I was doing well over the 25kph assist limit!!)

Think what the canal towpath could become with compulsory purchase of adjoining land....but no, no, we need Sheriffhall to be inflamed because that's real community.

"

It’s small and flat, and residents are increasingly seeing little reason to drive. The city now ranks 10th in the U.S. in the percentage of residents who cycle to work each day, and a new bike-share system is slated to launch this fall.

Yes.

A bit west of the doocot and slightly lower down the slope.

Haven't been for quite a few years 'was' on a path now v muddy and overgrown.

"Knobbly tyres at the ready...." may be better to lock up close by and use knobbly boots.

Before you look, stand on this site and think Cromwell.

Best way to find HiddenEdinburgh is of course by bike!

I wonder how many people know about the Craigentinny Marbles or have visited all the Redhall grottoes.
