There are still several day centres for adults with learning disabilities in the city. At least one of those will have a cycling group. If you are interested in this type of activity that would be one place to start. For example Bonnington Road Centre used various bikes to explore the NEPN though that centre is now closed. Scotland Yard also had adapted bikes and lots of people happy to be passengers so they might be another place to look. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=17965#post-255982 Wed, 26 Jul 2017 10:17:16 +0000 ARobComp 255982@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>When I was running the Pedicabs we looked at front loaders as they're MUCH cheaper and lighter than the old 100kg maximum cycles bikes we all rode. The main issue with them is they're considered incredibly dangerous vehicles anywhere that isn't absolutely flat, main reason is that they need VERY good brakes otherwise hills can go very badly wrong. Also the people are out the front and are not well protected. They were great, and massively popular. They're set up so that both sides don't have to pedal, so they can function as a rickshaw, or as a bit of exercise, or two people can pool their efforts. One pair who tried them out included a man aged 100 years old, who seemed to be having a great time.
