I think data comes from airport(?)

Close - it comes from Gogarbank, on the other side of the A8 - the weather station is within the grounds of the Scottish Agricultural Sciences site at Roddinglaw.

For inside the town you can probably bolt a couple of degrees onto whatever temperature it is reporting.

I've resolved to hang the trackmitts up after this morning's excruciating pain in my fingers. I'm glad I took the singlespeed and wasn't trying to change gears. Full fingers and merino liners as of tomorrow!

I got a lift half way and walked the rest this morning (going out straight from work, so easier than leaving the bike in the office overnight) - walking through the Meadows was most pleasant in the cool air. Plus it gives me an excuse to wear my hat...

I've got a couple of pairs of those for the depths of winter. Highly recommend them, but they are staying firmly at the bottom of the drawer until the end of October. I'm soldiering on with short bibtights, track mitts and knee warmers.

I don't mind the cold, but I wish scotrail wouldn't heat their trains as though they're trying to grow tomatoes in them :-(
When all the passengers are getting on from a freezing platform in winter coats and the conductor is wandering around red faced in shirt sleeves it's time to turn the heaters down guys!!

"humm, thinking about finding myself a BSO for when the salt comes out... "

Been down that route with motorised and non-motorised transport. Now I'm trying to run just one type of each vehicle, that way I actually ride the good/expensive bike rather than enduring a BSO (or equivalent) to keep the expensive one "nice".
On a bicycle especially, if parts corrode/wear out, then it's a good reason to replace it with better ;-) and a good bike will mostly be fine with a bit of care and maintenance :)
My maintenance efforts go effectively on one bike as well rather than being divided between several (none of which end up getting enough!)
