I want to actually put a decent dynamo front light on the Do All Things bike - but I have refined my needs: can I hook any light I buy up in such a way that I can charge a battery pack either (1) at the same time as having (some) light, or, almost as acceptable, (2) hook up a battery pack instead of the light as needed (via my wee usb-output box thingy) without having to faff about prising one set of contacts off the dynamo output and connecting another? Or do I need to buy a Particular Light to do this? Need the light for Ride to the Sun, but want a set up that will also work to keep my electronics charged if/when I head off with the tent for extended periods.

I've just had a dynamo light delivered from SJS cycles. I ordered the only Cyo IQ they sold. It's a "Cyo IQ Plus", and now it's arrived it's labelled 'Bottle dynamo'. It's got slightly different wiring: the hub dynamo version comes with two wire tails attached, whereas this has only one.
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/busch-and-muller-lumotec-cyo+-60-led-headlight-with-bracket-prod18717/

Do you know if this matters? Are the voltages the same? Can I bodge the wiring so that it works with a hub dynamo, or will I have to send it back to the shop?

The (€1.29) bracket that was attaching my Nordlicht bottle dynamo to my front fork has just snapped off after 18 months of being rattled over potholes and rough roads. It looks like there are basically 2 dynamo brackets on the market, the one made out of cheese that I just broke, and this solid aluminium B&M one http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/busch-and-muller-high-quality-aluminum-stay-fitting-bracket-prod11215/

I don't mind paying a few extra quid if it means I don't have to replace the bracket every year - but I can't work out if the B&M one will work for a front wheel as most of the places that sell it seem to imply it's for a rear dynamo only.

Can someone explain to the mechanically declined what the difference is and what I'd have to check before ordering to be sure it would fit my bike? I think I could put the dynamo on the rear wheel but with the rack and the mudguards and everything it's a bit crowded on the back wheel and it's nice having the dynamo up front where it's easy to reach and there's less cabling to deal with.
