Great news.

"Mr Brown said Scottish Government’s £30 million fund for new and re-developed stations, which opened this year, was involved in the project."

Meanwhile, the trunk roads budget increases this year by about £56 million.....active travel down £4 million.

Priorities, eh, Keith?

"NEW rail stations will be built at Reston in Berwickshire and East Linton in East Lothian, where the first ScotRail trains could stop in two years’ time, transport minister Keith Brown announced today."

And, in a further boost, East Lothian Council is working with SESTran (South East of Scotland Transport Partnership) to explore the possibility of re-opening a railway line to serve Haddington, with consultants set to look into the technical issues.

= removal of Haddington cycle path I presume. Although I don't think we should worry too much. East Linton has tracks already going through it and is on a main line. I really can't see a branch line to a provincial market town ever getting the go ahead.

Why does the village not have a station already?

Rail study points to new county station

"The study found there was track availability for up to 17 northbound services from Dunbar per day and 23 southbound trains from Edinburgh to the town."

The study would do well to realise that Dunbar is pretty much due east of Edinburgh.
