You would end up cycling to the start of the crush of bikes waiting for their start group. There isn't any parking in Pitlochry, the event uses one of the car parks I recollect. The Atholl Palace will do a deal of dinner bed and breakfast for you and your bike. But that will be expensive. The closed roads are good but you are surrounded by other cyclists for much of the route. Although my one time was the first carpet tack year so we all bunched up again at the top of schiehallion. Two controls with food and water provided, plus a bowl of soup at the arrivée (and as many cakes as you can carry). Most 100k audaxes are a bit over distance, so compare with the EC. Some are as little as £2 to enter!</p> <p>Okay you don't compete with 5000 other cyclists, no razzmatazz, no closed roads.
