Funny that - I must have sustained a puncture last night as it was flat this morning, will see the culprit tonight when I change it as I had no time this morning and walked instead

When I finally check my Scwalbe Marathon Plus tyres I will find thousands of these tiny faerie arrowheads embedded in the tread. Alternatively I will get a p-word tomorrow

yeah I got a flat from a wee arrow-head shaped piece of grit about a millimetre in size, small enough to push its head between the weave of the puncture protection. Have been giving them a quick once over a couple of evenings a week.

After an unexpected deflation earlier this week thanks to the Faeries stabbing my tyre with a miniature orange arrowhead, I spent a good 20 minutes today checking the rest of the treads and digging out loads of tiny sharp pieces of grit. Schwalbe Kojaks are pretty smooth running and nicely grippy, but they're not Marathon Pluses by any stretch of the imagination, despite their 'Raceguard' protection.

I've been riding the same roads and the same paths as usual, but seem to have picked up a lot of bits of glass in amongst the grit particles. I started to wonder if the mix of road treatment has been different this winter, or whether the Kojaks' compound is just softer and more susceptible.

Might be a good idea to give your own tyres a once-over!
