Cycling UK, Cycling Scotland and Play Scotland have just launched 'Play Together on Pedals' in Edinburgh - some members of the Forum kindly came along to show off their kit and chat to people at the very damp launch during EdFoC

https://www.cyclinguk.org/press-release/play-together-pedals-helps-families-get-pedal-ready

We would to run more Bike Curious Family events, support new family cycling groups, train parents and other volunteers to help children move from balance bikes to pedal bike. We have some small grants for community organisations to get involved and other grants so early years organisations can buy small numbers of bikes. We'll be giving nursery staff Play on Pedals training so they can work with children in their nurseries too.

If you would like to get involved in anyway, know a pre-school that would want to have staff Play on Pedals trained or would like to become a PTOP trainer and help us at drop in events please get in touch with Angie Kinghorn, our Development Officer on angie.kinghorn@cyclinguk.org

We're running the Bike Curious Family again during EdFoC, in a reduced format to suit to limitations of the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation car park : )

It would be great to see some Forum members come along and show off their family rigs to bike curious families.

Please get in touch if you're able to help out: suzanne.forup@cyclinguk.org
Event details are on the EdFoC site: https://edfoc.org.uk/events/event/bike-curious-family-workshop-2017/

Mother’s Day Action: 26 March, 10am at Bangholm Outdoor Centre, Craighall Gardens, Edinburgh

When others Mum’s are enjoying breakfast in bed, a few of us plan to be cycling around the cycle paths of Edinburgh with children in tow handing out #walkcyclevote leaflets to families. Part ‘soft launch’, part photo opportunity we hope that we’ll get some press attention. I've booked a photographer for anyone willing to be a WCV model! Any families that come and join us should be able to get a good photo of themselves too. Please come along, invite others – with our without Mums. We’ll be back at Bangholm by 12ish so you can still do Mother’s Day activities : )
Please drop me an email on suzanne.forup@cyclinguk.org if you plan to come

Hi,
I'm interested in buying a cargo bike as I have a 8 month old daughter and as she gets older I would like cycling to be our main mode of transport (as it is for me at the moment). Cargo bikes are a huge investment therefore I want to make sure I'm getting the right one for me. I have tried out an Urban Arrow and will be trying out a Nihola soon. Does anyone have any other cargo bikes in Edinburgh that wouldn't mind me having a go on them? I'm keen to try a bakfiets cargo bike short.
Also if anyone has a cargo bike and kids and have any tips for me that would be great too!
My daughter and I will hopefully be going to POP so maybe we can chat to some cargo bike users there!
Thanks

The Bike Station in conjunction with The People’s Postcode Lottery is running the kids and adult-friendly event, which is a bit like a Treasure Hunt on wheels.

Our Innertube map will help guide you round the quiet and scenic routes. Collect all ten cards, hand them in to us and you will be in with a chance to win one of our many great prizes, such as meal for two vouchers, cinema vouchers and many more.

Come and join in on the free fun on Sunday 12th June, between 10am and 4pm on the North Edinburgh Cyclepaths!
