<p>Working in Paris next week at the SIAL food fair, which looks like it's going to coincide with a general strike by the lovely people at both the SNCF and RATP. Meaning no metro, no Transilien.</p>
<p>Has anyone ever cycled within paris and outwith the Peripherique, and is this a viable trip to do (can't Velib it sadly as there's nowhere to dock outside the Peri)</p>
<p>Question 2, is this taking me through any particularly dodgy areas :)</p>
<p>Would be something along the lines of <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&amp;source=s_d&amp;saddr=223+Boulevard+Voltaire,+75011+Paris,+France+(GRAND+HOTEL+FRANCAIS)&amp;daddr=Parc+des+Expositions+de+Paris-Nord-Villepinte,+93420+Villepinte,+Seine-Saint-Denis,+Ile-de-France,+France&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=FbFq6QIdZ3okACEaO8lHlOSH8inb7WSSdHLmRzGdu1PyamVpwg%3BFeg66wIdr28mACnrGZgiUxTmRzFhHv7ow7xfGQ&amp;mra=pd&amp;mrcr=0&amp;dirflg=w&amp;sll=49.744837,2.789546&amp;sspn=2.211358,5.817261&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=48.917085,2.470894&amp;spn=0.140558,0.363579&amp;z=12">this, 12 miles:</a>
