Hi
A couple of months ago, I posted in this forum saying that I was considering moving to Edinburgh and I asked for advice on job hunting. I’m pleased to say I have now been offered a role in your city and I hope to move up there in the next couple of months or so.

So, next question!…can anyone offer advice on flat hunting?

I have had a quick look on rightmove.com for flats…there isn’t a great deal of selection. Is there a more popular website in Edinburgh to use, or is the rental market quite competitive?
My job is going to be based in Edinburgh Business Park and I was thinking of looking in the area to the west of the city (near to Haymarket) as that obviously has great connections to bus, train and tram. Do you think I could find a decent 1 bedroom flat for around £550 a month (I couldn’t really afford much more!)
Thanks for reading
Bob

Letter to the Editor – Haymarket Misery

It seems that scaremongering by the pedal cycling minority is now to further inconvenience Edinburghers and in particular those who are mobility challenged.

The closure of the taxi rank at Haymarket will impact those who have difficulty in walking to “nearby” cab ranks.

But if it saves one cyclist…

I submitted an extensive reply, but certainly didn't rise to the "if it saves one cyclist" bait. Although I may have referred (tongue in cheek) to a "mobility impaired minority". I also didn't reply that he's much closer to Waverley if his access needs require it - the cramped and multi-level environs of Haymarket being notoriously bad for anyone with any sort of mobility issue (or even carrying a bike or pram or lots of luggage)

Covered racks are being installed between the cash machines and the coffee stand.

Sorry for poor quality photo.

Hopefully there will be lots of racks, enough to cope with both the projected increase in Haymarket passenger numbers and percentage share of cycling numbers in Edinburgh in general.
