I injured my right knee recently and since then I've been conscious of being kind to it and use biomechanically sound movements. I do a lot of activities where knees can be badly messed up, which is obvious when your knees get a bit messed up. :-(

I noticed on the ride in this morning that when I turn the bike I also turn my foot slightly on the pedal to face the new direction. With a sore knee I can actually feel this shift in position happening.

Since realising this I tried to consciously pedal in a straight line even while turning. It's not easy so clearly the habit is quite well ingrained.

Is this a known pedalling problem? I've never seen anyone mention it but to be honest I don't pay a great deal of attention to discussions of proper pedalling form.
