Apologies for the lateness of this message, but I really do not think that this is going to happen this evening. So much for midsummer's day!! I was rather hoping that the rain might go off but it really does not look like it is going to stop. I will go to the CP to mop up, literally and metaphorically, any possible, very hopeful candidates. I got soaked in a matter of about half a mile coming home from work.

I am very sorry, I am not known for my wussiness but bike rides in pouring rain is not my idea of fun!! I really had looked forward to this since first advertising it in January but the weather is just not with us today.

Regards
Liz

I did post a message about this event earlier this year, but this is a gentle reminder as the time is almost upon us. Every year the CTC has organised a Ladies Bike Ride during Bike Week for some time, and this year is no exception.

Date: Thursday 21st June
Start: 1900 hours or 7pm
Meet: Commonwealth Pool for about 1845 or 6.45
Distance: approx 15 miles
Who: All welcome (sorry gents but gender specific)

I will be leading the ride and would like to assure those that are thinking about coming along I am not intending anything too arduous. Please ensure that your bike is roadworthy, bring along a spare inner tube (in case of punctures) and come dressed for whatever the weather may chuck or not at us. Hopefully, like last year, it will be a lovely evening. I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Regards and BW
Liz

PS - chaps we have had a lively debate about this already and I do realise that it is unfair to be a little less than inclusive but sometimes we women just like to do our own thing! Apologies in advance of any flaming that may be coming my way due to any of the points above. <ducks>

"Not sure about the 'ladies' though...."

That'll be CTC 'tradition'...

Seems a bit pointless if 'open to all'!

I know that this is some way ahead. It is a ride organised annually by the CTC during Bike Week. Although it is called the Ladies Bike Ride, it is open to any adult wishing to come.

The start point of the run will be the top of Middle Meadow Walk @ 19:00, the Lauriston Place, Forrest Road end. We will go to Cramond and back to the Commonwealth Pool for the finish, a round trip of approximately 15.5 miles without too many hills but living in Edinburgh which is, of course, built on seven hills, it would be impossible to avoid some elevation altogether!!
