The Merino leggings were in stock in my local Aldi this morning. Squeezed in amongst the angle grinders, gas-powered soldering irons, multi-piece tool kits and socket bit sets - nowhere near the other cycling gear, probably because they were late arriving compared to the rest of the stuff (plenty of £44.99 turbo trainers still available, I noticed).

@gembo: There are these low-cost front & rear light sets - my local store still had some in when I passed through today. There's also a combined front light & camera gizmo - a sort of Cycliq* copy I imagine, but I didn't notice whether they actually had any in stock. And a rear light with turn indicators - never seen the point of indicators on a bike myself but I suppose some folks might feel them worthwhile.

I think the leggings were stuck in a container, but are supposed to be available now - just not actually visible anywhere (yet).

* FWIW I didn't get on with my Fly12 as the headlight beam had no cutoff, and the video from the camera made me dizzy with the handlebar wobbles. I now use a Lezyne stvzo-compliant headlight and a cheap GoPro clone mounted on my rucksack strap for evidence-gathering, should it ever be required. I still use my Fly6, though.

Aldi autumn cycling specialbuys were in their stores a week or so back, apart from one or two items including the merino leggings, which were showing on the web site as delayed. I kept an eye on the web site as I've been pleased with the first pair I bought, and yesterday they were no longer marked as delayed so I popped in to my local Aldi today. No sign of merino leggings, though. Anyone able to advise whether I have simply missed the boat, or if they are not actually in the stores yet?

I once say a man called Edward cycling around Stockbridge in merino base layers.

I feel he maybe was not fully clued up on cycling costumes

Or

Was warm enough in the base layers so logically why would you add more clothes.

I do yoga in my merino leggings (at home, I wouldn't wear them in a public class). You do have to sort of hitch them up at the knees to provide a bit of extra give.

They've got a bit of give but not much stretch if you get me. I've ridden in them a few times mostly in the mornings when it was too cold or midgy to be bothered getting changed and they're still okay but I only use them as an base layer and I've got heavier shorts on over the top.

Thanks @ejstubbs. I will be there for merino socks (This time for Mr Bill as well. They work very well walking as well).

@steveo I see the long johns are 100% merino. Are they stretchy? I have a 100% merino pair of Icebreakers and they are not stretchy at all. I kind of ruined them when I used them for cycling a few times.

Think they were about the same price as the Lidl specs as well.

too in order to encourage gadgies on site to wear 'em.
