I'm after a decent mount for my D Lock.

I don't want it mounted inside the main frame (that would be too easy and, anyway, my frame is too stupid and small for that to be practical.

I've got and am using one of these.

It has to be one of the worst cycling accessories I have ever bought. The metal parts are made out of cheese-aminium, the sleeves don't stay tight on the lock shackle for very long allowing the lock to rotate in the holder. It rattles, and it's just badly made.

But apart from all that it has let me mount the lock in a rather handy and out of the way place. Here it is in action:

EBC workstand by ccbb7766, on Flickr

I'd prefer a mount that could fit any lock (i.e. not requiring a modification/addition to the lock itself, like the one I have).

Perhaps there is a mount that goes on the handlebars, or the rear rack (without blocking panniers)?

I noticed somewhere else that wingpig had his lock mounted in a way that might work.

See:
http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=3954#post-41603

Although I also notice that he has a big person's bike with more space for that kind of thing.

wingpig, is it one of these?
