I don't think a collision on a roundabout could justify dualling another part of it (this is a more northerly section, not the central Perth-Aviemore corridor that is so notorious).

It might justify lights on the roundabout, although last time there was a pileup on a roundabout in Edinburgh (at Gogar) it was due to ice on the roundabout. Could have been that given how northerly it is.

" does it just help the belief that the A9 is a dangerous road which needs improved"

I don't think that it's that bit that's scheduled for being improved, but they'll lump all the stats together to show it's danger.

Dangerous to cyclists too http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-24970955

(seems a child seat - complete with three-year-old - is no protection)

"no-one was thought to have been injured in the incident" which supports the theory that roundabouts have lower severities of accidents (for motorists) even though there may be more accidents.
It also raises the question why this made the news - does it just help the belief that the A9 is a dangerous road which needs improved?

Clearly this must have been caused by an RLJing, headphone wearing cyclist. Oh, it was on a roundabout? Aren't they supposed to be safer?
