Hopefully when (ADMIN EDIT name removed for privacy - just in case he prefers that) gets out of hospital he reads this and can send me a PM to get the bike unlocked. It's not badly damaged, the seat was twisted and the front mud guard arms had come loose but otherwise I think it faired better than the rider.

On my merry (wet) way to the water of leith I could see hazard lights and some people on the road. I carried on to see if I could put my new first aid to use.

Car had pulled out of junction and he'd gone over bonnet and landed on right side. Guessing she had pulled out of Murrayfield Ave in a hurry probably turning right as you don't get many gaps...

Driver and witnesses had already stopped. Taxis and cars beeping and squeezing past (2 feet away from my shoulder as I knelt beside him) - idiots.

Thankfully he was awake and nothing obviously broken or bleeding. There was a qualified nurse there so I didn't have ot take charge, a doctor appeared too but had to get away to surgery(!)
Local laundrette and passers by provided towels and even better a picnic blanket with a waterproof backing to cover him with.

While holding his neck we were talking to him about where he was on his way to. Work, Dundee St, he works in traffic management planning
I joked that this junction needs some work then - he said it was already on the list (hopefully it'll get bumped up the list now that one of their own was knocked off)
I mentioned I worked in Heriot-Watt Union with a guy who did that... he said "That would be me"
What a way to meet someone you knew from the past. Kneeling in the road holding his neck still.

Ambulance arrived pretty quickly, got his neck in a brace after snipping his snood in half, he joked he needed a new one anyway.
I spied his bike and asked if he needed it chained up, he doesn't have a chain so I used mine hence hoping he can get in touch, failing that I will try to track down his office and take it there but I reckon it will be a few weeks before he needs it again. No serious damage either just the twisted saddle and the loose mud guard like I said

Hope you recover quick (ADMIN EDIT name removed for privacy - just in case he prefers that) and get in touch. We can meet up in the Roseburn for a pint before walking to the bike
