As currently proposed:

Search on the council website: 12/04041/FUL

Seems to have a large amount of cycle provision in the ground floor of each building, but I've not counted how many bikes per flat. It doesn't seem to integrate with either of the neighbouring developments (Dickson/Allanfield) and I'll feed back to that effect. I _hate_ the bubble/isolationist effect fences create between neighbouring communities.

Instography, that bike's a beauty! Clean, simple lines, understated colour scheme. Lovely saddle. I have the same brake levers, agree they're made out of sponge cake, but then they're designed for TT builds where brakes are a bit of an afterthought. I have mounted mine back-to-front on old Raleigh Twenty bars as bar end brakes. Kinda stop you, just have to brake twice as early as I normally would!

Yeah, they do end up completely different. And you also learn that you don't have as many useful bits lying around as you thought so your 'cheap' build ends up not quite so cheap.

The brake levers are a joke. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them a couple of years ago to put on a bike that was intended to be mainly used on a turbo trainer. But they were there.

Chain tug - it stops the hub sliding further forward in the dropout than you want (controlled by little screws).

Nice looking bike! It's funny to see how extremely similar frames can end up built so completely differently (yours and mine).

Carbon brake levers..?

I thought some folk might be interested in my new toy that I finished making today, having started in October. A chocolate brown Pompino frame with various bits and bobs attached. Mostly picked up the bits in sales (apart from the saddle - that was Christmas).

I had planned to build it with an Alfine geared hub but baulked at the price of the hub and went for single speed, only with a more relaxed ratio of 40:20 than my everyday SS with its 50:16.

The wheels make me slightly nervous with their reduced spoke count and radial lacing at the front. I've never quite reconciled myself to the fact that my entire weight is supported by little metal sticks and this isn't helping.

Took it for a wee spin today and it seems nice. Odd enforced slowness. Might be worth an Arthur's Seat attempt.
