I believe you can suggest landmarks/shops etc from Maps directly on the iPhone. Haven't tried this though, so not sure how quickly it works.

Thanks SRD. Didn't expect 5 star reviews! We're only 'quite good' and open short hours ;-) (Apart from lying awake at night!)

Isn't showing yet - may be getting vetted?
Also think it might not come up as name for a while as web takes time to update.

Kim - what I meant to say was that up till now we only existed on Cyclestreets. I worded it a bit badly!
Google is quite popular map format although ideally we want to be on others too.

Cyclestreets uses Openstreetmap data - you'll be on that because an ordinary member of the public added you (unless you did that yourself of course). I've taken an extremely quick look at the OSM data just now and you have your website address on it which is good (works with sites like openlinkmap: http://tinyurl.com/lbuful4). It's lacking your phone number and opening hours though. Very simple for an OSM editor (member of the public) to add these - might do it later myself if I remember.

OSM usage on all sorts of devices and apps is increasing because it's free data, because people can set things up to use a map which shows what they want, and because it's so good at recording the stuff (paths, cut-throughs, bus stops) important to people in their ordinary lives rather than concentrating on roads.

At first I thought you mean the CycleStreets map ;-)

"Do iPhones use Google?"

No/Yes.

It was pre-installed, but then Apple realised that it was another way for Google to make money and so created its own.

Maps (Apple app) was slagged when it first came out - with some justification (not least because it 'replaced' Google Maps when it wasn't really ready.

The 3D is amazing for some places - London, New York etc.

Apple approved a new Google Maps app (a whole ago) - so StreetView came back.

Google satellite view still mostly better detail than Apple's.

I can't see it on google maps as a shop listing. I think the cyclestreets one is open source maps, which is becoming more used on dedicated mobile GPS devices (think Garmin) as its free but Google appears to be the default in browsers.

Bing maps?

Taken a lot of requesting PINS etc but finally got Google to phone to verify us.

Just pleased to finally sort it. Not sure what other maps people use? We are on the Cyclestreets one.
