Onto the road, not specifically under a bus:
https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/transport/edinburgh-council-s-road-chief-has-nightmares-about-festival-goers-being-hit-by-buses-1-4829319

"Given it's a very narrow footpath, given it's a very popular location for buses, it wouldn't take very much for someone to inadvertently be pushed onto the road."

Was it not Paris that kicked this off with a one off Sunday no car day. Edinburgh is going to do that I think.....

So if Paris is the example to copy let's hope we do. There was a bizarre feature in the EEN the other night about the director of place not being able to sleep at night as he is worrying about people being shoved under buses.....

Excellent! Shame the mayors on the left bank aren't playing along yet, but this is a powerful example that Edinburgh will struggle to ignore.

IWRATS: The story today is mayor suggesting going to Saturdays too, and then on to 7-days in a few years.

First Sunday of every month. Amusingly there's a grotesque mistake in the French. Can't get the staff these days I suppose.

https://www.paris.fr/actualites/le-centre-de-paris-sera-pieton-un-dimanche-par-mois-6098

First cycling demo I ever went on demanded just this. There were fifty-odd of us. Mid nineties. Righteous we were.

Busy news day - Paris centre may be pedestrianising was the big story of the day for me. I think Edinburgh's (supposed) move away from private cars is driven almost entirely by keeping up with city planning fashions, so this is terrific.

Interesting mention of electric ped zone shuttles. Something like the little xmas train tootling around pedestrianised Princes Street would be great, enormous improvement over current LRT Spartacus chariot races.
