We have had a lot of observations on this forum reported of drivers using mobile phones whilst driving. The feeling iam getting, perhaps incorrectly is that unless the police see this breach themselves or there is some form of crash which has witnesses, nothing happens.

My latest was seen from vantage point of a coach, on the A8 near Eurocentral, driver of white range rover G1 TRU texting. Can't even find a suitable email address on Strathclyde Police website.

As cyclists we have a good viewpoint of such behaviour, sadly though each of us is singular, how can we acheive multiple witnesses?

Left work yesterday at around 3:40 and was crossing Crewe Toll roundabout, indicated that I was leaving the roundabout and was heading towards the Western when the stationary car on the inside lane driven by a young woman pulled out in front of me and turned left. I hit the brakes as I wasn't sure at first whether she was goung on to the roundabout or turning left. Anyway, I noticed that she was on the phone and that the pedestrian crossing lights had just turned red and she was now stationary, so so cycled up to her car (she was still on the phone) and slapped her window with my gloved hand, well she nearly had a canary by the look on her face and I shouted "Get of the blinking phone you silly lady" or words to that effect. Forget to get her reg number in all my anger. Would you report such behaviour to the police if it happened to you?
