From my own experience of using other Wetherspoons pubs, I can well believe that the Police are correct to expect fewer problems. I've generally found Wetherspoons very reasonably priced, and to attract a much more mixed clientele than nightclubs, in particular, people of very different age groups. The food however, I do not choose to eat! It is cheap, and filling too, just not my taste. It is probably better if people eat as well as drink on a night out.</p> <p>I'd be very unhappy if Wetherspoons failed to respect the internal decorations of the old Picture House, but if the Standing Order pub is anything to go by, they will be sensitive about it if they get the go-ahead.</p> <p>Presumably it's difficult to run an music venue/nightclub and make a profit, otherwise the building would not have become unused. I think that this time we should make careful note of the Police input. At uni in Glasgow I would go to two or three gigs a week sometimes and there was every size of venue, from telephone boxes up to the SECC. </p> <p>Now I'm an old f**t and don't go to gigs anywhere near as often I don't miss it. The only time I ever went to the Picture House was to see Teenage Fanclub - great gig.</p> <p>@gembo: I've never seen Gillian Welch live, but it's on my bucket list. Both queens hall.</p> <p>Tho of course my preference has always been The Barrowlands. The only bad gig I was ever at there was early JAMC supported bybEdinburgh's Shop Assistants who bravely stayed on for 30 mins. Twice as long as JAMC.
