I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice last year.

I organised some physios at FASIC they where great and key to my recovery. I would recommend them to anyone with injuries. I managed to get back on the bike in April although I have been less keen to venture out on these recent colder mornings.

Thanks again for all the advise it was all really useful in help my recovery.

Sessions greetings.

" I did not secure my shoulder strap on my back pannier correctly resulting in the strap get caught on the back wheel and me going for a wee fly on to the pavement heading down Johnston Terrace."

good luck with recovery! i very nearly had similar; going down the hill (quite fast) towards the Dean Bridge, i suddenly noticed that pedalling wasn't happening. i managed to get off the road safely, and discovered that a little loop at the bottom of the panniers had come loose and gotten wound up in the chain and the cassette!
I hadn't even realised that was possible--thought it was a fixed loop. how was i to know--i've only had the panniers for 10 yrs!

Another vote for FASIC

I can echo Edinburgh Cycle Training that once they were able to make a diagnosis the focus was squarely on helping me help myself with a twice daily targeted routine (only prop required was a resistance band) and a friendly "come back in a few weeks if you feel it isn't challenging any more, or it is hurting"

My wife , who had a similar accident two years ago, goes to Physis and would recommend. The physios operate from at least three different locations.
Good luck with your recovery.

“Unfortunately, I only have myself to blame for this accident”

If you mean in insurance terms, not sure blame is an issue - though probably not worth claiming for (unless bike badly damaged too).

+1 for FASIC

been about 4 years since I went there, but after the first consult/diagnosis, the next session was essentially teaching/equiping me with how to do my exercises at home, saving me a small fortune in fees and time off work to attend sessions!

some physios can get you discounts on good pilates classes, which will help to strengthen all the other muscles that support the hip joint.

+1 for FASIC.

They are £45 for a 45 minutes session, and don't do the "aye, you might need 6-10 sessions" nonsense.

I was very impressed.

Any chance of insurance paying?

“

We cover all major insurance companies.

“

“

We are a multidisciplinary sports medicine team of physiotherapists, podiatrists , physicians and massage therapists treating people at all levels of sport and exercise and are recognised by all the main private insurance companies.

“

Update - realise that probably means private health insurance rather than ‘accident’, so will depend on what people have (and no claims bonuses.)

Hello

I don't really post on the forum but always read for good local knowledge on everything cycle related. So wonder if someone might be able to offer some advice.

I came off my bike at the beginning of the month resulting in a hip fracture and a hip pin operation. Prior to my injury I cycled around 100 miles a month as part of my commute. I am keen to get back on the bike ASAP and think that good physio will be key to getting back to where I was per accident. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to find a good physio experience in cycling related injuries in Edinburgh?
