http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ CityCyclingEdinburgh Forum » Tag: redesign street infrastructure - Recent Topics en Sat, 26 Sep 2026 10:08:20 +0000 http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=6451#post-69345 Mon, 07 May 2012 18:29:25 +0000 kaputnik 69345@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>Took the opportunity of Argyle Place being cleared of cars for road works to redesign the place so that it links onto MMW / towards Leamington Walk much better.</p> <p><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8019/7007064338_b4022c522d.jpg"></p> <p>At the expense of one side of the road losing parking (probably 12-15 cars at most?).</p> <p>I've drawn this with the cycle lane at current road level, with a kerb to stop encroachment from parking cars etc.</p> <p>Where there is access to sidestreets, this is prioritised in favour of the cycle traffic, with there being the equivalent of a zebra crossing for cars.</p> <p>After I drew this I thought about how the kerb would act as a barrier for pedestrians (particularly elderly, partially sighted, mothers with prams etc.) crossing the road, so it would probably be better with either small sections of kerb or even a row of bollards. </p>
