Rear derailleur hanger.

Actually yesterday but the title sounds better in the present.

I was heading back into town and just started cycling up Dundas Street when I shifted down given the (ahem) gradient, when instead of the expected clicks I was simply met with an almighty PRANG!! (If such a sound exists).

I looked down to see my rear derailleur hanging limply from whence it had once happ'ly resided and thinking to myself: I didn't even know it could do that...

Fortunately, I was only a few blocks away from the EBC on Rodney Street so was able to get a replacement quickly. Unfortunately, it was a fairly long walk back to Duddingston with a heavily loaded pannier and somewhat unwilling bicycle.

Just lately, it seemd CEC has decided to patch up some of the slightlier busier roads in the capital.
Some work has been done on the eastbound bus lane on Corstorphine Rd, which was lovely and smooth until they put back the coloured surfacing - why are the old lanes so smooth and the new ones so bumpy?

And on Calder Road there seems to have been some extensive "patching" work, but has anyone noticed that in a few areas the "repairs" seem in some way to have maintained the presence of the holes they were supposed to cover?

Need I mention the lack of a reinstatement of the cycle lane on the soon-to-be-opened (maybe) section of Princes St?

Anyone else noticed some dodgy repairs where the council thinks no one will notice?
