I live in a tenement stair in Marchmont where there's rarely any space to securely lock up my bike. So I've designed and 3D printed some hooks which clasp onto any banister pole between 20mm-30mm diameter and support any bike up to 20kg by the saddle rails. I've been using it for over a year and it's been great! It means that my bike is close enough to the stair to use a U-lock on the frame+back wheel and another on the front wheel (I've had just my front wheel stolen before >:( ) without needing to muck around with a cable lock.

Was wondering if anyone else who struggles to find a good place to lock up their bike would like one? I'm selling them for £10+postage. I've made a website with some more photos and information here stairhook.com.

They're 3D printed in ABS then submerged in an acetone vapour bath to add gloss and strength. They're are supplied with the required rubber for grip and nuts and bolts.

I need shopping advice.

The saddle of my (very) upright Dutch bike suffered a wee accident yesterday - it became unmoored at the front end. The <strike>doctors</strike> Cycle Service tell me there's no hope and that I should get a replacement.

Where would you suggest I look? Since the bike is upright I'll be wanting a saddle that's very wide and quite strong. I'm hoping for a shop in Edinburgh, but all ideas are welcome.

StepRam on "fizik Saddles worth the cash?"

I know Saddles are a very personal thing but I've been drawn towards a fizik ARIONE VSX CARBON about to go to Velo Ecosse and purchase (temporally) one of the Bright Yellow Demos.

However, before I rush out and splash the cash I wanted to ask if anyone had any comment on or Experience with fizik or other similar saddles?

De-hoarding as my free storage facility (the old family home) has just been sold:

One new but old men's Brooks saddle (black) - new but old in that it came attached to a Cannondale tourer in 2008, was immediately swapped out, and has been languishing unused in a box of random bike stuff ever since. Not sure of exact model - the "basic" leather men's one I assume, as it came as part of the spec. Can chuck in a cover for it someone gave me - never used - if you want it.

One nearly-new (but has been slathered underneath in the stuff oot the tin that's meant to help break it in) women's Brooks B17 S Standard Saddle in black (cost £62) - bought in hope, used for maybe 10 hours riding, abandoned when it became clear that the saddle was breaking me in and not vice versa. (Ow!) Has also been languishing in a (different) box of stuff since, erm, 2012.

Anyone interested? All reasonable offers considered!
