<title>Morningsider on "Cycling up and down"</title>

<description>&#60;p&#62;A new batch of transport statistics have been published by Transport Scotland today.  The key headlines are:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Distance travelled by cyclists in 2013 up 6% from 2012 (329m km, up from 310m km).&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Total number of journeys made by bike fell from 1.2% in 2012 to 1% in 2013.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Number of people cycling to work up from 2% in 2012 to 2.5% in 2013.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Given the way these statistics are collected, I probably wouldn't read too much into the annual changes (although distance cycled has increased substantially over the last five years).  What is clear is that cycling in Scotland remains at levels similar to that seen over the past decade or so  - with statistics showing small annual fluctuations up and down.&#60;/p&#62;
