Various bits of various frames are coated with <a href="http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/ps_dtr_metal_paint_colours.html#smooth">smooth Hammerite</a>. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=1707#post-16830 Wed, 17 Nov 2010 14:42:02 +0000 kaputnik 16830@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>I was giving the tourer (Reynolds steel) a well deserved wash at the weekend when I noticed a couple of places where the paint has chipped or rubbed to expose some bare metal.</p> <p>My question to the panel - particularly the cape wearers with thermos brackets on their rides - is how would they recommend that I treat these areas? My gut and ill-informed feeling is that I'd want to put a coating of some sort over them (I'm not so bothered about appearances - every scratch tells a tale - and I'd be happy to clear coat it). However, would I want to treat the exposed metal in any way first before I "seal in" any minor corrosion that may already have started? </p>
