Hello CCE! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I stopped for the second time today to chat to some Sustrans folk at the Meadows, and was wondering about others' experiences of them and if anyone knows what they're trying to achieve with this.

Both times I've stopped for a chat, I've got the impression that the people I was talking to weren't fantastically well-informed (today, I was told the planned Meadows to New Town route wasn't going to be segregated ... but also that there would be a barrier between the bike path and the road -- and also that fewer women bike because of the kind of clothes they wear!), and didn't really have any particular questions to ask other than "Do you know about Sustrans" and "Have you heard about the NCN".

Just curious, really! Find it a bit baffling as I can't work out what their goal is here.

Hello lovely people of city cycling Edinburgh!

I'm very new to the forum and was hoping to enquire if it was okay to post a link to a survey here? I had a look around and couldn't find out for sure so I thought I'd ask.

It would be some market research into a project I'm trying to get funded by the Scotrail Arts and Culture fund and I would be so appreciative of feedback!

Thanks pals!

Are we allowed another 'today's rubbish...' thread?

I was sent a link to a survey by Cyclescheme yesterday. It was mainly marketing, but it included a range of top questions (all mandatory), including:

1) "Do you ever cycle with family and friends?" - options 'yes/no/occasionally'. What's the difference between 'yes' and 'occasionally'?

2) "I smoke less since I started cycling" - options ranged from strongly agree to strongly disagree. No others. I had to put that I strongly disagreed, because I absolutely don't smoke any less than I did before.

3) "I drink less since I started cycling". Same options. I had to disagree again, because I actually drink quite a bit more now, in order to replace the fluids I sweat out. Even if I wasn't being so pedantic, how do I use this scale to say that I drink the same amount of alcohol. Presumably I have to disagree? Is that really the answer they want?

4) "Which of the following do you buy?". Options were "gels, energy bars, vitamin supplements, other (specify)" . There was no 'not applicable' option. I had a sense of humour failure at this point and wrote in the 'other' box "This is a stupid question because you're asking me to specify everything else I buy".

For reasons that are now beyond me, I didn't give up on this.
