Rim had started to split so had hub overhauled and new spokes and rim built up. Very pleased with the work done and very reasonably priced - given other bike shops are quoting £40 labour for a rebuild.<br /> Neil Bain seems a very straight guy. Appears to be the place to go for a service as well.<br /> The shop is the antithesis of the shiny bike shop - it's easy to assume it's been closed for years on the outside. But look out for the old Claymore Cycles sign in the window in Newhaven Main Street. He seems to open Tues - Sat evenings. Practically refurbed my off road for half what even the bicycle works wanted and won't do any work that isn't necessary. If you can, get hold of a copy of Jobst Brandt's 'The Bicycle Wheel', it tells you just about everything you need to know about the subject. Gerd Schraner's 'Art of Wheelbuilding' is also worth looking at, though personally I prefer Brandt's straight-talking manner.</p> <p>Don't forget about Uncle Sheldon's <a href="http://sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html">page on wheelbuilding</a>, too.
