Cycling safety, then, deserves urgent action, and that is what police are doing with their latest initiative today, a crackdown on rogue drivers and unsafe heavy goods vehicles. There will be stop-and-search patrols to check licences and inspect construction site vehicles for safety defects, and checkpoints in strategic areas.
