I recall about 10? years ago, when a charity ride with a big sponsor input was organised for same weekend as Edinburgh-St Andrews ride - it got 1 person registering to ride, and eventually got cancelled when the charity organisers (who had little connection with the cycling diaspora) realised that they should have done a bit more research in to the dates available. </p> <p>Eventually the idea - fundraising - let's have a bike ride might wane in the same way that charity walks no longer have the same prominence that they did when I was younger (and fitter) and did a 42 miler at an average speed of 4.4 mph. I would *love* to go for a night ride at some point, so I'd looked into this one. But the price is quite prohibitive! The Red Cross night ride is actually the same ride as the Global Adventure Challenges. Global Adventure Challenges require you to raise money for charity, any charity -- Red Cross just forward you to them but ensure that the charity you raise for is them.</p> <p>Anyway -- does anyone know of a night night starting/finishing in/around Edinburgh that *doesn't* cost a fortune to join? It's not quite the same just cycling around in circles by myself.
