Wilmington's Cow is a skilled wordsmith. I'm not sure how his singing is, but Ruggtomcat is certainly a bold and extrovert player!

Actually, if we had any willing skilled wordsmiths, and a bold and extrovert player/singer, "Our Sergeant Major" (Formby) could probably be re-worded into something cutting and witty about "Our politicians"... Any volunteers? :-))

Yup, I came to Uke's by chance (looking for a more portable alternative to a guitar for entertaining/distracting baby), I had assumed they were just "toys", I was however pleasantly surprised to discover that they are easy and fun to play around with and can sound lovely, not just George Formby or aloha cliches (nice though some of that is). Then I chanced on the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain online and was hooked :-) A "proper" musical instrument disguised as a childs' plaything. Much fun :-)
I'll have to learn to play the blooming thing properly sometime instead of just noodling around!

I bought my teenage daughteronenfornherbirthday, from the shoppeninngrassmarket. It was NOT cheap but it is the Concert style by the company LAG and was the cheapest proper one they had. They let me take the bike in and I panniered it home. It has a lovely sound and she plays it a air bit.

I'd bring mine, but you'd all find out rapidly that "extraordinary rendition" does mean torture.

I'm lucky I have patient neighbours

You can buy new 'cheap' ones that play OK for around £20.

My toddler has one and he loves it.

The "Thrift 2" shop on Gilmore Place had one on Sunday (or was it Monday?) afternoon when I had a browse. Missing 1 string, sure it would be cheap enough and perfect for his needs.

As the title says, anyone got a ukulele they don't use/want?

Smudge minor *loves* music and especially guitar and ukulele, but at 15 months his technique can be a little hard on the instrument! So I'm looking for a cheap one he can play with, (or a nice one I can play with and he can abuse mine lol)

Thanks all :-)
