"The Avid lever seems to have a lot more leverage/cable pull than even a V Brake lever..."

Yes I've noticed this as well. I'm running the lever with an old Shimano cable disc with no issues but compared to a BMX lever meant for centerpulls it definitely needs to pull way more cable before engaging. I find this necessary because if the pad is anywhere near the disc it's going to slowly drive me mad with the constant light scraping due to the disc being very slightly warped.

I'd second hitting up the bikestation, I was there recently raking through the levers and they had plenty of both V and canti types, so you may as well get both and see which works best.

I had quite a few canti and v-brake compatible levers kicking around in my garage. Tried all of them, but no dice. The Avid lever seems to have a lot more leverage/cable pull than even a V Brake lever...

Never mind, they're not expensive new, I'll just grab a single lever or pair online. Thought I'd ask here first just in case.....you never know!

I could be wrong, but I currently believe BBx brakes only need any plain old short-pull lever, so the Bike Station will have many replacements in the cantilever/caliper drawer.

Thanks, but it needs to be the left hand lever.

I have a right hand FR5, I'm not actually sure if there's a big difference between the sides, it's a pretty symmetric design. Yours if you want it.

This afternoon, my Kona Ute blew over in a sudden gust of wind while propped on the centre stand. Alas I was too far away to rush over and stop it from hitting the deck. Bend & Snap! went my left hand brake lever. So now my Ute is out of action until I get hold of a replacement. I think it's an Avid FR5 lever I need.

If anyone has a left hand, Avid BB5 compatible, cable pull disc brake lever, please get in touch. Maybe you've a pair of levers to dispose of, or just a single left hand lever, I don't mind.

PM or reply in this thread, whichever be greater to the power of ten.
