It strikes me that if you also took video footage of the illuminated patch, it sould be possible to perform some post-processing of the image to determine the quality of the road surface. GPS would pinpoint the bad holes. Scaled up, a higher resolution version could be used on a council vehicle ....surely a highly efficient way of determining which roads to resurface next?<br /> Ah well.
