@Roibeard, good point, I had assumed the taglicht setting gave me full LED's and no mainlight, however re-reading, hmmmmm

@Smudge - apart from the shade of the bag (which I've noticed on my Brompton too), isn't the "T" version blessed with day-running lights?

From Peter White's helpful pages:

In daytime mode, the "T" setting on the switch, the daytime LEDs are switched on at full intensity to make the cyclist more visible to others. At the same time, the main LED or "driving light" as B&M calls it, is set to a reduced intensity. Senso mode "S" on the switch has the daytime LEDs at full intensity during daytime, and when the sensor determines the ambient light level is low, switches to nighttime mode. The daytime LEDs are dimmed somewhat, and the driving LED is at full intensity. The "driving LED" is the same as in the regular CYO headlights.

So the "S" setting has the lights on all the time, but not quite as bright during the day as the "T" setting.

Robert

Makes sense I suppose, mine is on the Brompton so it's probably the bag + mudguard effect.
The tail-light / rail station thing seems to depend on which platform staff you meet, I mostly just point out it's a dynamo which will go out (a few minutes) after I stop, and park sympathetically while I'm waiting on platforms.

I've got an Edelux and it's fairly generous with what it deems to be darkness too. The sensor on the Edelux is under the body of the lamp and, on a Brompton, that puts it close to the mudguard and often under a bag.

It does't make a noticeable difference to rolling but train stations don't like it if your tail light is on as it upsets the train drivers. B&M do tail lights which can be turned off.

I have a Lumotec Classic and the sensor on that certainly works. For example my lights come on when I go into the Innocent tunnel and go off again when I emerge into daylight. It's a great system, I don't even have to remember to switch the lights on, let alone bring them with me or clip them to the bike.

Ok, firstly, it's an awesome front light and I'm very impressed. But does the sensor ever actually notice daylight!? Mine seems to stay on pretty much all the time. Probably a good thing, but I'm curious :-)
