Very bright against a plain, ideally black background ;-)

ISS is pretty cool though, I was lucky enough to be part of the ham radio team at the 2007 Scout Jamboree, and although I had no part in it, was there when they managed a hookup with an ex scout astronaut who answered some questions from the Scouts. Absolutely thrilling, and a quite awesome thing when I sat and thought about these guys orbiting us "in a tin can".
Even now, to do a quick google, then watch with the naked eye that little speck whistling over us, mega :-)

Hmm, if you have ever seen a transit of the International Space Station then you'll know how bright reflective things in sunlight can be. I think we should phone the astronauts onboard and ask them if Edinburgh appears as a mixed fluorescent yellow and orange blob from orbit.

It took me quite a while to convince my other half to ditch his full-on hi-viz jacket in the middle of summer and get a vest instead. And even then it took till the zip on the jacket broke.

They probably got it as part of a bike to work scheme and are scared to ride without it.

Perhaps they are further boosting their eco-hippy credentials by reflecting sunlight back into space

I cycled today in black shorts and black t-shirt, so was doing my best to decrease the Earth's albedo. However 18 square feet of bright red gel coat probably went some way to compensating, so I can still claim eco-hippy.

Was a little nippy when I first got on the bike at 7, and I did think about going back for a base layer. By the time I got to Aberdour it was fine, and by the time I had crossed the bridge it was very hot, at least it seemed that way to me.

Left at 7:30 in short sleeves only - no gloves even.

Was on the verge of thinking it was a little nippy for the first few minutes, then golden.

Sweet!

I zipped up neck of gilet as I left the house, only to unzip it by the time I had got across Meadows to Tarvit Street. Apart from that I had a short-sleeves all round.

I had my Altura jacket on this morning at 07:15 (unzipped with all vents fully open mind you). It was actually pretty cool in the shade, particularly at 20mph. I think I would have been too cold without it (work shirt on underneath).

I'll likely remove the jacket for the way home.

Chatting to a bloke on Slateford Road last night, I said 'lovely, innit' to which he said 'its a bit muggy'

I didnt have the heart to ask him why he was wearing a jacket!

I was short sleeved and still sweating !!

Riding a bike is already considered a fairly green thing to do. Perhaps they are further boosting their eco-hippy credentials by reflecting sunlight back into space, thus doing their part to fight climate change?

I do wonder why people persist in wearing those horrid boil in the bag things? There are loads of light flo tops you can wear if you insist, which allow cool air to pass through.
