Some manage to find volunteers (usually parents) but they are unlikely to do it often enough to gain any realistic amount of experience/competence. </p> <p>Increasingly schools are using staff, who have to be covered for when they are away on the training course <em>and</em> when they are delivering (unless it's their own class). </p> <p>Not entirely satisfactory and unlikely to be cost effective compared with bringing in experienced trainers who deliver many times a year. </p> <p>Additionally SG/CS only seem to care about numbers of children who have done Bikeability 2 (this should include on-road training). </p> <p>There doesn't seem to be enough attention paid to the quality of training or an effective mechanism for monitoring consistency. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=10392#post-113528 Sat, 08 Jun 2013 08:15:35 +0000 chdot 113528@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>"</p> <p>Paul Wheelhouse, the environment minister, said the government faced a tougher challenge in hitting the 2020 target as previous carbon data had been revised, meaning Scotland must achieve a 44 per cent reduction instead.
