£8. That was before I remembered I needed the skewer and he went off to find one and said he's still call it £8. Hurrah indeed!

I like the Bike Station (I think my thumbies are Suntour, and the left crank is Sugino, so it's nice enough stuff as well.

The Mercian has a very unusual stem - it's like a downhill MTB one, very short and with quite a rise in it. Looks like someone has had it custom built to their fit and then had to give it up for one reason or another. And agree it is a very nice bike!

I'll start the bidding at £5. I like how when you go to the till they either ask 'how much do you want to pay for this..' or do a rough countup and then knock it down a bit for good measure.

I owe the continued existence of 3 of my 5 bikes entirely to the bikestation. The supply of random bits, handlebars, brake levers, chainsets etc for stupidly low prices is amazing. There's stuff in there that could be packaged and sold as new, must have been pulled off a practically unused bike.

To repay the debt I'm probably going to be volunteering there later this year when my studies are done.

Single ring chainset (mismatched, but workable); thumbshifters; rear wheel QR skewer - go on, how much?

Some nice stuff in just now as well. Gorgeous fancy-lugged 'Maclean' frame for £200 hanging on the wall; and a stunning small-framed green Mercian, all built up, £1250 (referred to as the best donation ever, easy to see why, and wonder why on earth it was donated! It's stunning and mint).
