I think for my ride home I'm going to "drive" a luxury car home and see what consumption I get going along the canal.

I'm not sure how they come up with a fuel consumption number and my current car doesn't have an honesty gauge so I can't compare my cars computer with the app.

We get ~550 miles from ~45L of fuel on a regular basis - a little over 55mpg

2003 1.7L diesel estate.

I drive it like I stole it too. Very odd.

I downloaded an app called 'millage' about 9 months ago, never used it.

My trip computer, which I can't remember the last time I reset, so values over 1000's of miles is 45.4mpg, and an ave speed of 28 miles per hour. Ave speed may seem high, but most driving I do is out of town on fast roads. It's a 3y/o Volvo 2.0 diesel V70 estate.

I do intend to have it 'chipped' which will give it performance more akin to my old Volvo S60, and better the fuel economy too.

I saw an app which aims to help drivers reduce their fuel consumption by driving properly. FuelGood

Energy Saving Trust estimates that you could save up to 2 month’s worth of fuel yearly by driving efficiently. Use the FuelGood app to track your fuel efficiency and the potential savings you could make by using our fuel-efficient driving tips.

But that's no fun, I already drive like that (I'm cheap) so I thought I'd see what my "fuel consumption" would be on the bike.

I selected my car; medium sized, 1.4-2.0 petrol, ten years old.
My results 33.4 mpg with my average speed of 14mph.
This apparently is -4p "saving" against their benchmark. Emissions 200g/km.

Any one else feel like having a go. I'm sure there is a apple version too.

The app itself is rubbish overly broad categories to be genuinely useful for any comparison across models you could probably use it to monitor your own driving in one car, one route across a few weeks. I think its just an expensive (quango money) novelty to get people to try and take on board the "tips".
