This is making west bound Cathedral St slow. I even tried to get round it (on a bike) by going up via Port Dundas a couple of weeks ago. It didn't help but I did see a lot of construction at the old Monklands canal wharfs. </p> <p>If they close the north side of the square then east bound car traffic has to go to Cowcaddens St or south to Clyde St and the obvious way to do that is… Renfield St. Ohh joy. </p> <p>It's obviously possible that people might leave their cars at home but it's been horrible for years and they still persist. </p> <p>I assume the ban in front of the Chambers will not apply to the provost and other worthy people.
