Hmmm, so Bath St is currently closed at N Hanover St. Bikes, busses and taxies now have to use Killermont St to go west. This is making west bound Cathedral St slow. I even tried to get round it (on a bike) by going up via Port Dundas a couple of weeks ago. It didn't help but I did see a lot of construction at the old Monklands canal wharfs.

If they close the north side of the square then east bound car traffic has to go to Cowcaddens St or south to Clyde St and the obvious way to do that is… Renfield St. Ohh joy.

It's obviously possible that people might leave their cars at home but it's been horrible for years and they still persist.

I assume the ban in front of the Chambers will not apply to the provost and other worthy people. We know how much the provost enjoys being in a car.

You have to forgive BBC Scotland for its inaccuracy, it's on the south side of the Clyde after all. The land to the north is probably full of dragons and volcanoes and things.

I know BBC Scotland usually only cover football, murders and cute animal stories but even they should know that Glasgow is not in Tayside or Central.

Private cars could be banned from the north side of George Square under plans drawn up by Glasgow City Council.

The proposal would see a bus gate opened to reduce traffic in the area by up to 70%.

Roads bosses also plan to ban all vehicles, except bicycles, from the section of George Square in front of the City Chambers.
