The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal are busy with a summer programme of cycling law enforcement. I wouldn't normally post this fairly mundane article but the SPVM officer interviewed has an interesting take on the chronology of road usage:

"Our North American cities where built back in the 18/1900s with only horses in mind. Then cars appeared then cyclists and then pedestrians ...the population is increasing but our roads are not getting any wider...".

Link: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2013/06/13/5-montreal-cyclists-habits-that-break-the-law.html

Once again, to recap: horses, then cars, then cyclists then pedestrians!
